Import icons
Fill Easy SVG Pro with many icons at once: a ZIP of SVG files, an SVG icon font, your own Font Awesome download or a ready-made preset set.
Adding icons one by one is slow when a client hands you 200 of them. This guide shows the four ways to import many icons in one step, and what each way needs.
Every import ends the same way: single icons, each cleaned like an upload, stored on your site. Nothing is loaded from another server afterwards.
Before you start
- Your Pro license is active.
- Icon set editor is on under Icons → Features.
- For Font Awesome: Font Awesome import is on. For preset sets: Preset icon sets is on.
Which way fits?
| You have... | Use | Result |
|---|---|---|
| A ZIP with SVG files, or one SVG icon font | Drop it on a set in the Icon library | The icons are added to that set |
An icon pack (ZIP with manifest.json) | Icons → Packs → Import a pack | A new set with the pack's names and labels |
| A Font Awesome download (Free or Pro) | Icons → Packs → Import a pack | One new set per style you choose |
| Nothing yet, you want a ready set | Icons → Packs → Preset sets from UnleashWP | A new set, installed with one click |
A ZIP of SVG files or an icon font
Open the set
Go to Icons → Icon library and click the set in the Collections list. Create one first if needed, see Icon sets and collections.
Drop the file
Drop the .zip or the SVG font file on the drop area, or click Choose an SVG and pick it.
Read the report
Each SVG file in the ZIP becomes one icon, named after the file. Each glyph in an icon font becomes one icon. A message says how many icons were added. Files that could not be used are listed with the reason.
If an icon of the same name already exists in the set, that file is skipped with "The set already has an icon of that name." Rename the file and import it again.
Import an icon pack
An icon pack is a ZIP made by Easy SVG Pro, or by hand, with a manifest.json beside the SVG files. Read more in Icon packs.
Open Packs
Go to Icons → Packs.
Choose the pack
Under Import a pack, click Choose a pack… or drop the ZIP on the area.
Confirm the name if asked
If a collection with the same name already exists, you are offered a free name. Click Import under that name, or Cancel.
You see "123 icons imported as acme." The pack is now a set you can edit.
Your Font Awesome download
You can turn the icons you downloaded from fontawesome.com (Free or Pro) into a collection on your site. Visitors then load nothing from Font Awesome.
Download Font Awesome
On fontawesome.com, download the package for the web. You get one ZIP. Do not unzip it.
Drop it on Packs
Go to Icons → Packs and drop the ZIP under Import a pack.
Pick a style
The box A Font Awesome download lists the styles it found, for example "solid (1390 icons)". Click one.
Repeat for more styles
Want regular icons too? Drop the ZIP again and pick the next style.
Why one style at a time? Solid, regular and brands all contain an icon called "house". One collection per style keeps them apart. A style with more than 2000 icons is imported up to 2000, and the report says so.
Preset sets from UnleashWP
Ready-made icon sets put together by UnleashWP.
Open the list
Go to Icons → Packs. The section Preset sets from UnleashWP lists every set on offer, with its number of icons.
Install
Click Install next to the set you want.
Each pack is checked against the size and checksum the catalog names, then cleaned by your site's own sanitizer. Packs are only ever downloaded from unleash-wp.com. If UnleashWP cannot be reached, the section says so; click Check again later.
Limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Files read from one ZIP | 2000 |
| Total size read from one ZIP | 16 MB |
| Size of one SVG icon font | 16 MB |
| Icons per Font Awesome style | 2000 |
Each single icon also has to stay under the Maximum SVG size (MB) set under Icons → Settings. A developer can change the ZIP and font limits with filters.
